MRS AZARA ALI MAMSHIE


NATIONAL PROJECT COORDINATOR, WAAPP GHANA.
Mrs Azara Ali Mamshie holds MSc. in Agric. Economics, from the Tashkent Agricultural University in the former Soviet Union. She has attended courses on Policy Analyses programme in Washington DC, Project Management and Statistics courses at several places including FAO Headquarters in Rome, GIMPA in Ghana, INEC in Senegal and Swaziland.

In 1988 Mrs Mamshie started her career at Project Budget Division of the Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Department, Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

 In 1994 – 2005 she was seconded to Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) as the Assist Programme Officer at the Country office, her duties were assisting government to formulate country projects for funding, monitoring of all FAO funded projects in Ghana, writing of annual report to the Headquarter in Rome, Performing any duties assigned by the FAO Representative for Ghana.

In October 2005, her assignment ended with FAO, and she reverted to her mother Ministry and worked briefly with the Policy Division and was later transferred to the Project Division in 2007 as the Deputy Coordinator of WAAPPP, and in 2010  she was confirmed as the  National Project Coordinator for the West African Agricultural Productivity Programme WAAPP Ghana.       

Mrs Mamshie is married with three children.

Useful Information

The WAAPP Coordination Unit in Ghana is the Projects Division of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) whilst the implementing agency is the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The structures put in place to govern and manage the WAAPP in Ghana are the National Steering Committee as well as the NCOS Management Committee and the Competitive Agricultural Research Grant Scheme (CARGS) Board as the Implementing agency.
